Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Exacerbates the English team's Fitness Worries.

'Serious blow' for the touring side as Atkinson is forced off due to a hamstring issue.

Gus Atkinson further complicated the fitness woes of the England squad after leaving the playing area on the second morning of the fourth Ashes Test in the Ashes series.

Atkinson pulled up with his hamstring immediately following a delivery of the fourth over on Saturday.

The touring camp stated Atkinson reported "discomfort" and was to take time off the field in order to be assessed "over the next few hours".

The final Test of the tour beginning on 4 January gets underway on Sunday, 4 January.

The visitors have already lost key quicks one seamer to a knee injury and another paceman with an abdominal strain during this series.

Matthew Fisher was added to the party to provide backup.

His form was underwhelming early in the series, claiming a mere three wickets.

He was dropped from the previous Test, then recalled for the fourth Test as Archer's replacement.

Surrey's Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, bagging two scalps during the host's first knock, and scoring 28 runs as a batsman as one of just three England players who passed ten runs.

After bowling one over late on the first day, he came back the next day and dismissed the nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.

Unfortunately, on the final ball of that over, he delivered a variation to Travis Head and suddenly grabbed his left hamstring.

The English bowler returned to the side for the Boxing Day Test having missed of the third.
