Iranian Forces State Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Widespread Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is not yet known and the United States has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported missile fragments fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some property damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
