The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Show from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The newest Far Cry instalment that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for delighting in violence and mayhem with equal excitement, all while weaving engaging, politically driven tales. It’s no surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two visionaries whose work have exemplified all of those things.
Show Details
Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game series, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' style by featuring a new location and cast of characters in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed magnificent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we have no details on what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the producer.
“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally accommodating, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX team always encourages me with their constant confidence and assistance.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone show. Every title is a take of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” said Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can change from season to season, while always examining the core of humanity through this multifaceted and chaotic lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to partner with Rob and bring our shared irreverent, visionary style to the television.”
A schedule for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
