This Swine Life: Hog Named 6-7 Spared by Miami Dade County Mayor.

Although not quite at the identical stature as sparing Thanksgiving turkeys, but the Miami-Dade County mayor experienced a presidential-style act this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She deserves this act of mercy. She has committed zero crimes,” stated the mayor in a speech with obvious nods to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued from the start of the beginning of a new presidential term.

“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” the mayor added. “Let this swine have a long and happy life free from concern.”

This ceremony, which both honors and questions the local cultural practice of eating roast pork during the holidays, was established to mirror the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The pig, provided by a first responder, was christened after the current slang trend of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – originating from a hip-hop line – often for no discernable reason. The craze became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently made “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.

A New Life

Six Seven the pig is now set to enjoy its days at a rural sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The pig pardon has become a cherished method to open the festive period,” said the event host, in a notably cheerful message.

“It represents the character of Miami: happy, multicultural, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Every time, we are honored to observe tradition and kindness in a way unique to Miami.”

Guests enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach fritters and cafecito as they marked Six Seven’s big moment.
