Trump Calls Relatives of Injured Military Soldiers to White House
Former President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has invited the family of a Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the executive mansion.
He mentioned that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.
Background on the Devastating Shooting
US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a violent incident on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in grave state.
Gatherings across the state have taken place in their remembrance.
Presidential Call
The commander-in-chief stated he’s discussed a White House visit for the loved ones of both soldiers of the state Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump addressed journalists. “And similarly with him, recover or not.”
Community Support
Mourners came together over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to honor Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to assist public safety in the capital.
Remembering Beckstrom
“She was the kind of student that teachers desired. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,” Hankins, the principal of her alma mater, informed the press. “She was kind, caring and always eager to help others.”
Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are still being arranged.
Judicial Steps and Government Adjustments
Authorities have accused a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.
The incident caused the Trump administration to pause asylum processing and temporarily stop providing visas to possessors of travel documents.
Status of Wolfe
The airman, a native of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the news agency.
He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi told the program that she also intended to speak to his relatives.
Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a military police officer with excellence, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had fortitude,” he informed the audience at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
